A Baijiu Journey with AABEV
Share
In September, AABEV took our Australian VIP customers to Luzhou, the home of Luzhou Laojiao, for a trip into the heart of Chinese baijiu.

Luzhou Laojiao has inherited the craft of baijiu brewing for 24 generations since the Yuan Dynasty, and it still uses its national treasure cellars, built in 1573, today. It is the birthplace of strong aroma baijiu and the standard-setter for its brewing process in China, which is why it's revered as the "authentic strong aroma baijiu."
Seeing How It's Made
For many of our guests, this was their first time seeing how baijiu is actually made. We toured the production areas and learned how traditional methods and modern equipment work side by side. Some steps have been done by hand for centuries, and some now run on stainless-steel lines.

The Tasting
Then came the part everyone was waiting for. We sat down for a guided tasting and worked through the aromas and flavours of strong aroma baijiu. If you think baijiu is just a strong, fiery spirit, a proper tasting changes your mind. It can be fruity, smooth and layered, and it's even more enjoyable when someone walks you through what to look for.

The Surprise: Jiao Zhu Coffee
The highlight for many of us came at the end. We tried a baijiu iced coffee from Luzhou Laojiao's café, Jiao Zhu Coffee. The drink was cold, creamy and refreshing, with a gentle hint of baijiu in the background. It's an easy way to try baijiu if the traditional way feels intimidating.
